Hey folks! These were practice drawings for proportions on drekir. Most of these im pretty happy with but
I am gonna go ahead and use these drawings as a way to extrapolate and talk about DragonScape stuff. it's what i do
Left right top bottom.
Just a Hobo drawing, I actually really like how it came out!
The Teal-Smith is essentially a drek blacksmith who specialized in VerdaStal. often this means they make more knives than spoons, specializing in weaponry and armor of different types and shapes, as VerdaStal doesn't have a whole lot of amazing uses outside of warfare that other metals don't do just fine.
Melting VerdaStal requires the use of DragonFire which can only be spewed from a dragon who knows BreaThrowing magic. VerdaStal glows green when it's hot as opposed to red or white.
Smithing the stuff is pretty similar to iron, you can apply similar techniques and get similar results! So it is at least straightforward.
So I wanted to draw a repeating crossbow, but i can't JUST draw a repeating crossbow, so i drew a drek HOLDING a repeating crossbow! But the design is based off of this awesome youtuber's magazine for a cobra crossbow, here is the link to that it's real neat!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAnJZiGy8wU&t=295s
Faster shooting arrow launchers like bows or repeating crossbows tend to fill in the gap of needing a faster attacking ranged weapon in areas where human guns are unheard of and verdastal repeating guns are impractical due to resource limitations.
I wanted that muhm to sit at an angle, like leaning off the stool onto the table, i dont think that turned out great! but anywho
Education is a variable in the DragonScape, some groups might have a chance to teach their kids more than whats needed and other groups may not even teach basic mathmatics. Most teaching comes from parent to child rather than a classroom setting and things such as textbooks are often seen almost as gold. Knowledge is powerful and the next generation of drekir have room to benefit from the old human books that have become so rare.
Also, working out a kids egg breaking tooth that is around when they hatch. Thinking about like a rhino looking thing that grows upwards and falls out after like 3-7 years.
Two survivors bagged a giant snake to eat! It ain't pleasant but you gotta eat!
Reptiles, Amphibians and Insects of the dragonscape don't get dragon'd up necessarily, since they are already pretty close (except insects). But they do normally get MUCH bigger, often these creatures double their size, how do giant mosquitos sound? terrifying? thats what i thought!
But this makes a lot of already larger reptiles, like pythons and larger lizards pretty sizable and both great sources of meat and also very dangerous.
I could just imagine some snobby californian accent type fashionista bragging about their BEAUTIFUL and fabulous armor to try and sell their expensive VerdaStal armor to some knight who wants to get into a fight looking the best they can.
Most VerdaStal armor isn't too decorative as it needs to be function over form, so most of it is crude and/or straightforward. But often the rich have room to get fancy and will often buy or order Teal-Smiths and armor designers to make them somethin with a bit of inlay to fancy it up.
Shaggy out!
