Another old comic book idea I had once upon a time, a team of superheroes with presumably less than ideal powers who banded together to make a difference and show the world that they were just as strong as their more powerful peers. Through creativity and teamwork, using their "useless powers," they would be the unsung heroes the world would never know about, hence their name, "The Unsung."

This lovely lady here is one of their more powerful members, the majestic Major Maple. A Canadian chemical engineering major, she fell into a vat of maple syrup that had moments ago been laced with an experimental blend of nutrients and then bathed in vita-rays. The gooey substance seeped into her pores, imbuing her body with vital energy that left her in peak physical condition, and gave her the ability to secrete a super sticky maple syrup from her hands that could be used to trap enemies, extended into rappelling lines, or even hardened into brittle yet effective barriers. She donned a costume modeled after that of the RCMP, in honor of her grandfather who had served and encouraged her passion for the sciences.

The art was done by one of my all-time favorite artists, the legendary  fredgdperry himself! I've been a huge fan of Gold Digger for years, and getting to meet him at A-Kon 2013 in Dallas and get art from him was a major treat. He even helped me come up with the team name for this idea when I pitched it to him. Shame it didn't end up getting anywhere, writing comics was always a dream of mine that, sadly, never really got off the ground.

Still, this piece brings a smile to my face, reminding me of the time I once met one of my idols and that he actually liked one of my ideas. Even if it never went anywhere, that my creativity was acknowledged and deemed as good enough by someone like him... It gives me hope.
