not to sound like a downer but to me that just doesnt look like a twenty dollar piece of work...Rena barely has any shading on her at all, she has basically no lighting to her (from left to right, right to left, top to bottom, etc.) i notice very light shading in a few areas, now Rena isnt exactly looked at as being delicate (which imo lighter shading accentuates delicate forms) so her shading should be a tad darker. As for the background though i really like it. I would have gone with either a dark grey patter or a pinkish patter to show the mood...blue is a cool colour and is usually found with pictures that show relaxation, this seems more of a happy snuggly moment or a sad wanting moment. Thats just my take on it is all im saying. Cotton the Colour Consultant OUT!

4 hours of work for 15$? I dunno, that sounds good to me. And thank you, but there wasn't supposed to be much shading on this, either, because she's sort of... Nowhere. Ya know? There is no light. The only shading was supposed to be what would be on any figure in flat light due to body contour.

No, I knew that. Again, me and my not paying attention, this is a fifteen dollar because it's closer to a flat color. I really appreciate getting feedback other than "She's cute." or "That's hot!" So thank you. Sorry if I seem pissy, some douche is being an ass saying that I should be selling something along these lines for $5.00. That would be making about a dollar and hour, which I really can't afford... But I'm glad you like it.

well from one artist to another of course im going to critique your work lol, and i understand some people dont realize the time that goes into the work, but sometimes you need to learn to comprimise. hell i do commissions for FREE, and my colour jobs are good but gotta make a name for myself first ya know.

I do many a commission job for free too. It's all part of promoting your work. I just can't deal with being away from my mate much longer, so I fucking need to make money... First I need money to get a tablet, and then I can start doing better digital work that I can do with this mouse I have here.

This picture here? This one? Could be considered a free commission because it's part of a project I'm in that isn't very strict at all. It's just a bunch of requests for Renamon pictures. Request = free commission. I know you have to make compromises. I have 5+ trades in my line of stuff to do. I seem to be being misinterpreted a lot today.

well i dont have a "mate" to miss so i suppose i couldnt fully understand how your feeling about the whole situation. Although i do understand that jobs are scarce, and more and more people are having to do practically free commissions to get any kind of work at all. Im thinking about doing like 25 cents a picture or something, not very expensive, very affordable, and you get a good product. but im still debating.

It goes way the hell beyond missing for a lot of reasons, but I don't feel like typing it all out at the moment, and I know I'll shatter again if I try... But 25 cents...? I think that is way way too low. I would go with $5.00 if you're gonna be that cheap with the commissions.

Pablo Picasso spent YEARS on his works of art, tried to sell them and never made a dime, NEVER made a dime period...noone cared for his work until he was dead. Personally i think if he would have just sold them cheaper he would have been recognized earlier...so thats how i look at it. maybe i'll get lucky and someone will say "oh i'll give you $5 to do this picture for me" but i highly doubt it, most people attempt the colour jobs themselves (and most dont do very well)

I know that's true. And it's just unfortunate. People are vile, disgusting, idiotic creatures, I think... But you have to live with them, that's reality. I've always thought it was... wrong that his work wasn't recognized.

I think you should set up a chart like I have. Offer just line-art and what have you, you know??

I fucking need a little cash... I love art, but I need money. This is all I can really do, it would seem. Besides, 15 dollars is good. I'm friends with people that charge way the hell more for this sort of thing... I spend TIME on this shit, and if you read what you get when you commission me, I do everything. I draw sketches until you're happy with one, and show you lines and everything. I even send all the sketches to you when they're done. God, this is fucking frustrating as hell. I wish people would bitch out people I know that make $120.00 - $300.00 a commission when that takes them maybe 5 or six hours to do... That's how much time goes into a number of my pictures. Even chibis take me a good 2-3 hours to do.
