A few months had passed since Bodi's triumph.
Without Linnux (who still was God knows where, after that forced flight he's taken...) to order them, the wolves had to find themselves other jobs and occupations.
Riff tried to take over Linnux's legal businesses, and actually had some success with that.
As for Skozz, as always, he made a quirky duo with the shorter wolf.
Over this time, their regular visits to the Mountain, originally to maintain the end of the siege, became a tradition they wouldn't have missed for anything.
Skozz loved spending time with the children, who couldn't get enough of the stories they said he told them (that flabbergasted Riff a lot).
Riff himself had the habit of going all alone in a cave in another but close mountain. It was a cave Khampa used to meditate and channel his Flame, and Riff, at every visit, spent one hour there. The absolute solitude and calm allowed him to relax, to forget for a little while the world, and it did wonders on his stress.
Recently, the wolf started actually meditating during these moments, on himself and his life choices.
He was ambitious. Always had been. Contrarily to what many people thought, it was not to compensate for his small size (even though he'd love to be taller).
Simply, he wanted to be high in life. To achieve greatness.
For the majority of his life, he had huge aspirations, and wasn't nitpicky in the means to get there, explaining why he worked for a scum like Linnux.
But the wolves's defeat had been a bit of an eye opener. While he still had that burning ambition (he took over his former boss' businesses), he now had scruples on the means (only the legal ones).
And one day, during one of his meditations, he realized that he was happy with his actual situation.
Oh, he still desired to rise always higher, but if he couldn't, well it would be no disaster.
He had let his ambition rule all his life, with good and bad results.
But on this day, he tamed it.
As he opened his eyes, Riff saw in surprise a small, dark flame floating in the air in front of him.
What the hell?
Intrigued, he approached his hand to it.
It felt burning hot, and yet comfortably warm at the same time.
His curiosity growing, Riff tried his luck and touched the mysterious flame.
And it entered his body.
The small wolf felt the searing-yet-nice heat spread in his body as he suddenly stopped being small.
In barely a few instants, he grew at Skozz's height, then Linnux's, then that grizzly he saw in cage matches, then even bigger...
And his muscles were swelling at a crazy rate, already bigger than a professional bodybuilder's...
Riff was torn between astonished, ecstatic, embarassed (his clothes had quickly given up and he was now naked), excited...
And that growth was not slowing down, on the contrary...
