Finally got an updated reference sheet finished for my ‘sona Folky! I feel this alone is a sufficient explanation why I didn’t commission a suit of my actual fursona lol
New wingblades! New anatomy! New hands!
About species:
The Inhabitants of the planet P'leri-D are an entirely shifter species of intelligent facultative biped aliens resembling vaguely humanoid dromeosaurids. Not much is known as to whether they have a similar gender binary, since they all appear genderless and the Inhabitant ambassador known as Folkvangr, truely named V'lan-ya, alternates between 'they/them' and other pronouns at random.
They are a race known for their camouflage and so have developed the ability to even change their forms to blend in as a result of that. Most tend to reach a height of about two metres when standing straight on their back legs, and about the height of a wolf on all four feet.
All have a feather-like crest across the top of their heads that acts as their method of hearing and can be raised or lowered with emotions.
They have two pairs of eyes; a large forward-facing set with reptilian pupils and a smaller, pupilless side-facing set. Their rounded cheekbones are very pronounced and they have large fangs in their bottom jaws that project up and out of their mouths. Tails are long and thin and can be used as weapons in a manner reminiscent of male Iguanas. Their hands have three long fingers with serrated claws able to generate a strange flame when clicked together, and an opposable thumb with a longer claw like that of a deinonychus.
Their 'feathers', locally referred to as spines, are used as weapons though closely resembling the feathers of many avian creatures. Made up of many long barbs on a bone-like shaft shorter than that of birds and slightly inset into the skin, Inhabitant spines give them an enhanced sense of touch, rather like antenna, and can be hardened to become blade-sharp whenever the Inhabitant is facing a battle situation.
The colourful feathers known as the secondary spines serve a slightly different function — communicating emotion through movement. The Inhabitants are not big on facial language and so communicate their emotion through the positioning of their brighter and more visible spines. As a result, the shaft of these spines is longer and they also lack the ability to become blades, instead being far firmer than the relaxed others.
The wing-like 'wingblade' on their wrists and smaller versions on their ankles are home to the majority of their fighting spines, and are also helpful for gaining purchase when climbing trees.
The tattoos all 'civilised' Inhabitants have on these parts of the body give them the ability to almost 'retract' these into their arms without a trace.
