Threw this together in a few hours (not including cure times!) for an assignment of all things. I have to submit a portfolio on monday and I figured if you were faced with a bunch of USB portfolios from job applicants, you'd grab this one first!
Cheap thumb drive, smoothcast resin, foil and apoxie sculpt. Citadel and acrylic paints.
Tempted to make and sell these (and similar stuff) next year once I've finished my uni work, it was a fun piece to make!

As an employer, whilst this would draw my eye I would have two problems with it. The first is the width. I tend to go over applications on my laptop, meaning with my mouse in there would not be space to plug in such a device without taking everything out first. The second is simply it looks childish. I am not downing on it for that reason, it is beautiful work, but much like I tend to put all the big headed cartoon character USBs aside, this one would end up there in my line of work anyway.
Fair enough, and good points.
For a costume/props job it's a bit more appropriate, which is my particular line :)
I'm also known locally for making the weirder items, so for a piece that sells what I do I like it. You're right about the width, I did think about that but thought if I did want to send this out to actual employers (and not just submit it as an assessment piece) I'd include a little adapter as a courtesy for laptop users. A little unwieldy but it would help.

Oooh, maybe make the "adapter" a bit of bone shaped...? It's already slightly "horror prop" with the red meat texture on the cut, adding a bit of bone out might look just right.
I like it for the juxtaposition of useful item (flash drive) and fantastic prop (claw) already.
Possible film title: "Clawfinger"

Yeah, if I have more time for the next one (this is a thing I just thought of for the assessment due monday) I'd definitely play with the placement a bit more and do some more intricate sculpting. I had all of an hour one night to get this sculpted so there wasn't much leeway for detail :P
