It had been several days since the Cat's Eye Preservation had closed down due to the incident caused by the Wandering Witch. However, despite them thinking they had control, it was all just a ruse. There was never any control to begin with. It was the Mistress who had been pulling the strings all along.
This was not the end of her Sanctuary as she'd taken a lot of money from undeserving humans to make this place come to life—she was mildly invested in the preservation of her growing collection of pets. So her Companions and Agents now began to work their magic in cleaning up this mess, removing all allegations and charges off the Sanctuary, and playing with people's memories. Soon the next line of staff would be ready to be put in, business would begin anew as it had before she arrived, and nobody would have any memories of this ever happening.
As for the new cats themselves, they would either be given a home here, at the Wandering Witch's Grove in the Old World, or they would simply be re-released back into the wild. It would all depend on the Mistress's feelings on who she liked the most and who she found too annoying, whether when they were humans or as felines presently.
This is what she was finished explaining to Rebecca, the last human in the Preservation and the former head of it. She found herself completely cowed by how powerless the situation had been all along, that she'd in fact been manipulated by the Wandering Witch to abandon her old life and have her memories re-invented solely to serve her purposes. Now like the one she'd taken the place of before, she would now find herself joining the other cats prowling about freely in the Sanctuary as a feral beast.
After learning about this revelation, her head hung low as she simply muttered, “If you're just going to make me one of them, just hurry up and get it over with. I don't care what happens to me anymore.”
The Wandering Witch simply frowned. She was taking this way worse than she really had to—ultimately, it was up to her how she received the news. Still, if it didn't really matter to her Mistress what she wanted, why did the Wandering Witch feel so...annoyed at her dejection over the revelation?
“How typical.” The Witch muttered under her breath, barely audible. Before Rebecca could lift her head up, she let out a sharp whistle. There was a distant lowing, akin to a cat mewling in response to its master calling to it. A large bengal tiger stepped into the grounds, rubbing against the Mistress's flanks before letting his head be stroked by her hand. “Micah, appease your Mistress by dealing with your former employer. Make her happy. Or don't. Just have her fulfill her purpose.”
“Yes, Mistress...” Micah chuffed as he lay down onto the cobblestone, just in reach of Rebecca's hands. His tail waved in a friendly manner as he waited patiently for her to do something. “Please, pet me, Rebecca. I'm so strong and powerful as a cat. So can you...if you just let go. Pet me, my superior snow leopard, and you'll feel better. Mrr...”
Rebecca didn't know how she could possibly feel better, but it was nice that one of her staff members still knew she was their boss. So she began to stroke his fur as he chuffed. It didn't do much at first, but soon she was feeling not as upset. She felt really good, actually.
It wasn't long before she was chuffing with Micah as the snow grey fur grew on her. Kicking off her shoes and pulling down her pants and shirt, she began rubbing her whole body against him as her frame shifted to a permanent quadraped. She was just so soft and fluffy right now. She wanted to be cuddled with and had her tummy stroked.
"How do you feel?" Micah asked.
“Mrrr...so...gooood,” Rebecca mewed as she stretched on all fours. Fully a snow leopard now, she padded up to Micah and rubbed her face against his. “I'm sorry I was mad, Micah. I don't care who I was before. I'm just a Snow Leopard now and I need to get cold. Now!”
“Then let's hurry and find your exhibit,” Micah chuckled, licking her face. “I'm sure you'll fit right in.”
