Dang, I'm stupid... When I drew Chetchaka's awesomely designed squirrel dude, I got distracted or something, and took no advantage whatsoever of said awesomeness. Instead I covered him up almost entirely, and now you can barely tell it's the same character... :s Naturally I realized this early in colouring, and I couldn't be bothered to start over at that point..
Well, anyway... There are flaws aplenty. The hammock was rushed, and I tried giving him whiskers, but I really can't seem to get them to work in this style. If you see anything else you think I could improve, I'd love to hear it!
Also, if it's too dark on anyones monitor, please tell me so I can fix it! :)
Edit: I should start making actual backgrounds instead of just using mistake-obscuring black... I mean, seriously!

Oh, but it's so AWESOME anyway! I forgot you said you were gonna make this.
It's just, it's adorable, the coloring is amazing, the way the hat is set against the hammock just adds to its natural feel and this is so awesome that I can't stop myself from making run-on sentences.
Also, don't let backgrounds stress you out, I can't draw them either. :]

I know, right? Backgrounds are the single most horrifying thing to learn. Especially if you don't enjoy drawing them in the first place. :/ I suppose the only way to improve is by drawing them, though.
BUT this pic doesn't need a background anyway. I freaking love it as it is. xD

Hmm, dunno if i like to draw them or not yet... I can't recall ever trying, so maybe it's actually easy as pie!? :D
The so called realist in me begs to differ, but I don't particularly like that guy. He and I don't get along...
I suppose a good place to start would be painting sceneries with no characters, for a bit of focused learning;
Like landscapes and such. Doing both character and BG at my current drawing rate seems like it would take ages!
What do you think, does it sound like a good idea?
