And very good for a first try with Krita! I want to use it but can't use a tablet to save my life, so anything I make with it doesn't look right lol

Tablets are difficult beasts to tame. After years of learning how to use one I still prefer drawing on paper. Digital media is excellent when it comes to colors though! I just feel I have a lot more control over my sketches with traditional media.

You captured how I feel about it perfectly. The frustration is unending when trying to draw a vaguely circular cranium and failing time after time, sure you can zoom in for smaller details like eyes but I found it doesn't seem to help much. And then I don't know about you but I find digital is also less forgiving of mistakes because of the flawlessness. I try to get the best of both worlds by digitally colouring scans but then you get inaccurate colours even after playing with levels, and it just feels like I'm cheating

I think you've done a great job here, there's a lot of likeable features and it all looks correct to me.

There's no such thing as cheating hahaha, digital art is hard enough without restricting what tools you're allowed to use! My workaround to the colors thing is to yeah, play with the levels, set the layer to multiply, color under it, and then paint on a new layer over top all of that. Not sure if it's efficient but it works for me :P
