Is it Soviet or Pre-Soviet? You should also check the Armory stamp on the receiver because these we made by MANY countries. Maybe you got lucky and got a Finnish one heheh. Nagant's are always fun.

Lol. I checked the weapon. It has the soviet star on the receiver just forward of the bolt. Also, along the bolt is the serial number in Russian characters. The weapon I have has literally been sitting in storage since World War 2 ended. Upon further inspection, I noticed on the internal magazine cover (that thingy sticking out the bottom just forward of the trigger has several more Russian characters. All I need to do now is find the right type of ammo, and I will definitely be able to feel the power behind this rifle.

What is the date on the barrel shank and the factory stamping? Is it a star or a triangle with an arrow? Is the receiver hexagonal or round?

After looking the weapon over, it's 1943, the symbol is a star and the receiver is round

Interesting. I was expecting an Ishevesk. The tula's are more rare for that year.
