Recently, a friend of mine told me about how he joined an RP forum based on science fiction. You could join as any character or ship you wanted, including things like Star Wars, Star Trek, or a setting of your own making. Now, this is the same friend that some time ago asked me to make this anachronistic space-battleship for him. He joined the epic battle between the Galactic Empire, the Federation of Planets, Sonic the Hedgehog and Co., the characters of Halo, the characters from Star Fox, and God knows who else, in a bizarrely anachronistic British Royal Navy warship, with officers still dressed in blue tailcoats, holding brass telescopes, and calling everybody 'old boy'.
As you would think, hilarity ensued, as his ship was hailed by a semi-naked sci-fi femme fatale dressed in leather, whom of course offended the Victorian-era officers of a space-going warship. He then proceeded to invite the captains of each ship to a dinner in the officer's wardroom, stating that 'formal dress would be required'. Needless to say, he had to lend some very small uniforms to the hedgehogs and woodland animals, as he called Sonic and the Star Fox team, as they had brought little in the way of appropriate clothing. He was also highly amused that the Halo characters turned up... in their battle armour, complete with helmets.
I must say, it was the most hilarious roleplaying thread I have ever read, with British officers inquiring as to why the Star Trek crew had seats on their bridge, or why their uniforms were so inadequate, and spouting bizarre orders like 'Set the main sails!', which means 'Engines to full power', and smoking pipes. All in all, there's alot of fun to be had in sticking Victorian gentleman in the company of talking hedgehogs, and underdressed Trekkies. :D
Which leads me to explain this. This was how I visualised the first contact between his ship, HMS Warspite, a Star Destroyer and a... Star Trek ship. Needless to say, at 3.5 kilometres long, the Warspite outclasses both of them. They are all to scale, so you can really see how much both capital ships dwarf the Enterprise. If you are ever asked "Who would win in a fight, a Star Destroyer, or the USS Enterprise?", now you know the answer. Neither! The British Navy would destroy both of them. :D
Also, the Star Destroyer and Enterprise are not my creations. They belong to their respective creators. Thanks to R. Schoberth and P. Dobson for the models.

Wow.
This picture is awesome. The background and engine effects are particularly good-looking.
I'd also agree that the Royal Navy could easily destroy any of those ships - although I'm not sure about the Star Fox crew, as you don't really have the point-defense weapons that you'd to take out the pesky little fighters.
I mean... you could probably hit Slippy with your big guns.
But you'd need much faster weapons to take out the rest.
I also wouldn't mind if you posted a link to that thread somewheres, sounds like a goodly read.

A very cool design. Though i think the sovereign class's speed and maneuverability ( i am a trekkie so i am biased ) would give it the upper hand against the warspite, your design has a Superior number of killzones and overlapping fields of fire, giving a clear advantage when it comes to straight up Firepower.
One thing I have learnt from all science fiction combat, is that it does not matter who has the best design, the main characters will always win. :D
Aside from that, I would like to think the Warspite would refuse to engage the Sovereign out of decency and honour, if the two were ever to meet. :D

About damn time someone crossed the universes! Wish this was a movie so bad, but as if that'd happen... *sighs*
It's odd, I've considered the notion of the Imperial Japanese Navy from WWII going into the Star Wars universe, making battleships for the Empire. Sadly the art I did is gone, so no proof of concept :(
