From the adventure time finale
Man... It's finally over...
Adventure time was a good fun show. When it started airing I grew to love it as it moved from this disjointed series of random fun stuff to something seemingly much deeper than what anybody would have anticipated for it to be. It had some interesting themes hidden beneath the shows fun and happy exterior and I liked it for that but eventually I lost interest in it around the time after Finn was breaking up with flame princess. By the time I got to the Orgalorg and meteor episode I stopped watching the show. I'd assumed that while it did still have a lot of interesting lore in the background the show would inevitably always go favor the wacky randomness and never give any real importance to the all the interesting stuff.
At the time, what I got from Finn refusing the meteors proposal to go back to having fun adventures while no longer having a real love interest to even pursue is that the point adventure time... was that there was no point and thus I just stopped caring about it.
A while later I was proven wrong by the show when the islands and elements miniseries happened but at that point I only watched the "important" stuff and ignored the rest of the series having no longer had any real interest in the show. I decided then that I'll just keep tabs on the show and see how things would play out in it without trying to really "watch" the series but just catching up with all the new stuff to see if something interesting pops up.and keeping up with all the new lore.
Eventually the show ended and looking back while quite a lot of all those loose threads have been tied up nicely (for the most part) I realized that while I was looking at all the lore and plot points for what the show was really about I was really looking at the wrong place.
When I sorta "returned" tot eh show Finn seemed a little different from how he was when I left the show. I assumed it was because of a shift in subject matter but now looking back at the show after watching the finale I realized that He HAS changed.
The show was never really about the mystery of what happened to ooo in the lore, finns love life, the weird themes,or the overarching story of the whole show. It was really all about Finns character development. He went from a rash young boy who's go to solution to any problem is to handle it head on with his fists being reigned in by princess bubblegum to balance out his impulsive nature into a relaxed almost contemplative guy and the pacifist trying as hard as he can to stop the impending war.
I'm not really gonna spoil anything about how it ends but... wow
I guess for a series like adventure time it really did have just the right kind of ending to it
And Imma have to say that yeah this show was great and it really did deserve all the love and fanfare it got.
