The "hooks in the back" bras exist for the same reason that women's clothing have the buttons on the opposite side of men's clothing: Men were expected to dress themselves, women were expected to have their handmaidens hook, button, zip, and in some cases, SEW them into their fancy dresses. The fancy "need three people to put in on" outfits are gone (fursuits excepted), but the traditions remain.

A friend of mine who happens to be female told me that front-clasping bras not only are slightly more expensive, they also are slightly more likely to cause a wardrobe malfunction.

Now THAT is evil, charging more for an inferior product, just because it's more convenient.

perhaps they need to do away with the hooks all together with the front-hook bras. Snaps might be easier, especially if one end has an extra tab, forming a "Y." A double-snap system, with the snap holding in front and behind, the ends are kept from twisting and the snaps won't accidentally unsnap.

...I think I might be revolutionizing lingerie here...
