This behavior actually means the kitty is not getting enough exercise and entertainment during the day, so they spend the day sleeping and end up with loads of energy at night and few ways to use it. It's frustration and hyperactivity.

Sounds about right. Add some "Meh" or "Mow" or "Meep" sounds into that, plus maybe the sound of an empty plastic cup falling off of something onto the floor.

it's typically a boredom thing, if you can get them to play and be stimulated during the day and get rid of some of that bored energy, they won't really do this at night

I started pulling out er Laser toy more, and she seems to sleep through the night now. I have wrestled with her a little too.
