You've weaved a nice balance of philosophy and humour there, flowed very well too despite the length. Intentional or not, I liked the shades of Animism that came in at the end, it brought to mind some of C.S. Lewis' stories, with christian imagery with some pagan undercurrents here and there.

I do share the notion of believing that other species do have things to teach us. Especially their spirits, if I may add; that, I can attest to.

P.S. Is it bad that I sort of kept picturing the God from Monty Python and The Holy Grail when I read this? Deep, booming voice and all.
