Yeah, so I was looking through a lot of my older photography and I came across this pic, I figured maybe it was worth posting here as we all have the winter season to look forward too. Funny enough my bike in the photo is the most expensive thing I own. It's worth about $2,500 today and the suspension fork in the picture when it was brand new in 2005 had a msrp of like $1299.99 or something like that.
This is one of my fav things to do when it snows here, people get way too afraid to go exploring in their cars of even by foot when we get snow, so I bust out my downhill mountain bike and go riding around (I've got 2.7" tires so no worries) the thing is a monster in the snow.

XD yeah, only a hyena is stupid enough to ride his bike around in the snow.
But yeah I didn't actually ride down the stairs, at the time my RD hangar was slightly cracked from the summer season and I didn't order a replacement yet, so I just rode down the side of the stairs (to the right)
Thanks :3 I don't know about publish worth though. my photography is a little meh.

I know but they seem too heavy. I was looking at getting a DH or super XC bike if I got the money. Right now the frame is holding up but I have bent the RD hanger 3 times. I want a sponsership for road but dont know about how to get one. I usually dont like mountain as I have to study what Im riding before I attemp it. I am really good on road tho. I can manage an average of 19mph over 70 miles on my HT which is about as heavy as some DJ bikes at 33lbs.
Ah yeah I see. I mainly prefer technical Downhill. I've been to Whistler B.C. a ton of times, that's really my utopia up there. I always come back like 15 pounds lighter as well. With me it's usually wait around for the lift to open having no breakfast, then ride all until like 1PM grab just a hot dog or something in whistler village and then ride till the lifts close XD so I burn tons of calories because I barely eat anything. For me I assess things really quickly in my head because I'm very spacial intelligence. So even if I'm moving 40mph I can still access a jump or descent or rocks or whatever I'm going over very quickly. Having a single pivot frame and a inverted fork helps a lot too.
I don't know about getting a sponsorship with road riding, I would say just show up to tons of road events and get your name out there and such. That's how I got my sponsorship with mountain biking was I just did lots of reviews and was a lot of the time positive and I helped out customers and stuff, then I was given the opportunity to ride.
Depends all what you want to do. if you want to tear up the streets and ride on things you're not suppose to be on anyways, then a single speed dirt jump bike with a 90-100mm suspension fork is exactly what you want. if you want to do more road riding and still mess around, then look for a longer travel FR hardtail like the jamis komodo for example.

I usually am good in the winter or if there is no tree cover as I have use shadows to determine where stuff is( Im blind in one eye and half in the other with correction) so If the lighting isnt constant enought to throw a constant shadow I cant see it. Im in the process of memorizing a 9 mile trail here in indianapolis. Most of the big stuff Ive riden has been on accident. Ive rode off 5ft drop off a loading ramp since I was looking at my gps wondering where to go next and then bam luckily I was able to land it right and not get hurt. That was on a walmart FS mongoose that I trashed in 4 weeks. By the way how heavy is your DH bike as I might get one for commuting as I already have a 33lbs HT and carry 20+lbs in my backpack when I was training in the hills back home(23% grade sucks going up but is a blast going back down).
Yeah, I've destroyed many of those mongoose/magna wallmart and target bikes. even just riding those things off road breaks them.
my DH bike is 38lbs with the manitou travis, 42lbs with the marzocchi shiver. the average weight though for probably what you'll want to spend on a DH bike is probably going to be 42+ pounds.

You just have to be smart on how you build things. I used mainly freeride parts since they're strong enough. sin ringle Singletrack rims and stuff like that. but mainly I didn't have to try too hard because the frame is really light and really really strong to begin with.
Yeah, the '05 shivers are really hard to find. Seems that when you see a shiver it's a '02 or an '03.
It's a Ibex Zone FR-1 http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/.....ackprofile.jpg
And yeah, that's it at Whistler B.C. XD
