Gonna be honest up front, This didn't turn out as nicely as i would of hoped but regardless i hope you folks like it.

I have always wanted to draw a sky battle in the DragonScape. with a small group of DrekirHimi (wyvern drekir) taking on a MaeVae wyvern in aerial combat. I also wanted to experiment with blacks more.
I think the Raddir in the background kinda ruin the picture, muddying it up as it were but to move on.

Aerial battles are not nearly as common in the DragonScape and for the most part the Skies are dominated by the MaeVaeJur wyverns of Caste-Dragon Kingdoms, their size and magical ability make them huge threats to drek villages and towns as they can level defensive walls, towers, or other structures easily and are also incredibly dangerous even if grounded with their magical knowledge and sheer size/strength. A MaeVae is resilient to bullets but the wings are a weakpoint of theirs all too often. Making that the prime target to grounding one, tearing the wings forces them to land.

While drekir can build catapults, cannons and machine guns to help ground the wyverns before said maevae devastate a wall and create a breach for a Caste Dragon army to charge through, there are many a Wyvern Drekir, the Drekirhimi in various regions that are beneficial towards aerial defense.

Now DrekirHimi are a rare race, out of billions of drekir there are only about 1 million wyvern drekir amongst them at the WakeUp, with about 500,000 people flying in North America at any time and about 200,000 in south America every day (and at the time of the pulse) plus the thousands and thousands of drekir living in the Andes Mountain peaks and Mckinley. so roughly a million wingers.

While these drekir cannot sling as much magic as a maevae wyvern due to their smaller size. but they do have a few things going for them when fighting the big boys
1) They are a lot smaller and overall faster than MaeVaeJur, this allows them to often dance around their opponent and pelt them with magic, arrows or bullets. Speaking of which,
2) DrekirHimi were once humans and, as such, they have the know how for making guns and crossbows, as well as other weapons in combat. Often known as Skyguns or Skybows, these are specialized weapons designed to be operated by the wyverns legs and feet, allowing the wyverns who aren't that great at magic to still take part in a sky fight. Explosives and heavy objects are also used and dropped onto maevae wyverns to try and ground them or kill them.
Additionally Some DrekirHimi will use their rudimentary claws to wield simple blades called Strafe Blades. They don't swing these blades at all but rather will glide next to a target, strafing against them with a blade that is meant to slice their target's sides.
3) Numbers, while DrekirHimi aren't a common race of drekir, only comprising 0.01% of all drekir race wise (1 million of 1 billion drekir) they often woke up in the ruins of airplanes (where many were at the time of the pulse) and as such, are often forced to travel and live together for survival and get to know eachother. But there are often more Drekirhimi in a fight than MaeVaeJur. So they can use this numbers advantage to overwhelm a large wyvern\
