August 29th.
My dog got hit by a car. We were taking them out to use the bathroom beside the hotel, and he got off of his leash. I chased him but he was too fast. He ran to the other side of the road and kept running in a field. But then he wanted to cross the busy road again. And he got hit. He screamed and me and my mom screamed as well. We made our way across the road and moved him onto the sidewalk, and I sat next to him while my mom went to get the car. He was still breathing. A woman who was working at a nearby restaurant saw and brought a blanket. She sat down next to me as he stopped breathing. She told me he was gone and I don’t remember ever feeling that hopeless. He was only a year and a half. We were supposed to grow older together. I was supposed to move out with him. But now that thought is over.
I hope he knows that I was by his side when he died and that he was so very loved. I hope wherever he is now he’s happy, and he’s chasing the bunnies somewhere else now.
