This second image is a small tea set. I decorated the pieces with drawings of tiger barbs, a wonderful little fish that happens to be (unfortunately) one of the most popular purchases at the pet store where I work.
Please excuse the angles on the images... my friend Bry took them at the show. I didn't have time to get proper slides made of the work.

Is this high fire clay? I'm in a ceramics class and we are doing these! I was wondering if you painted on the fish before bisque firing or after with a glaze.

The clay is cone6, as is the base glaze I used, but the images was put onto the pot after it was glazed using china paint.

Those are gorgeous! Did you paint each one by hand or are they appliques? (Or however you spell it) I envy your throwing skills.

I painted each of the fishies on by hand... I considered using transfers, but this way I get to add in all kinds of little details. And don't envy my throwing skills. They're SO rusty!

HEY! I have a question! I'm gonna be renting part of a pottery studio and I get to buy some glazes um.. what is the matte glaze you are painting the images onto? and you're firing to cone 6 yes? :)

Hey Dingy!
I'll have to check for you, but it's one of Standard Ceramics glazes. They're based here in Pittsburgh. I'll get the specific number and name for you when I go into Sweetwater tonight or tomorrow.

Oh, and it's a cone 5/6 glaze. We typically fire to 5, but it's the same at 6.
