August 2018 CE: Kinetic-Duet
Later than I wanted to be, but!! I had a ton of fun with this month's Creature-Exchange on DA for kinetic-duet !
1 - What parts of your prompt were written well and easy to understand? Was there anything the writer of the prompt could improve on or include next time they create a prompt?
The prompt was clear and well written! I had an easy time working with the idea and really enjoyed myself! The dos and don'ts felt nicely placed out!
2 - Please explain how you interpreted the prompt to create your design. Which features did you use? Did you stick to the chosen palette or make changes to it? Does the design you created have any special abilities or quirks?
I really wanted to capture a nice East Asian dragon feel with this design, which is why I decided to go with a somewhat regal look to some extent! It was very interesting to get to mix two things that I often do together (East Asian dragons, along with dark colored characters with florescent!) This prompt felt like it was almost perfect for me to design and I was super excited when I got it! I decided to go with a fluffy mane and full mohawk running down the back, as well as a tied ponytail, as I thought the fluff would give the character a softer, more friendly look. I made sure the teeth weren't showing, and that the character had a usually very friendly expression! I also decided to go with blues to jades, since Jade is a very prominent stone used in East Asian countries and blue is a calming tone, and I thought they would work nicely with the character! I also tried to keep them having a longer look, to stick with the East Asian dragon theme.
Pretty sure they can fly despite the lack of wings, and may have some sort of empathy powers that help them mediate people. But maybe not! It's totally up to you!
I really hope you enjoy them! I had so much fun working with the prompt ;w;!
