It's absolutely true. Flight muscles in flying birbs are monstrously powerful. Trumpeter Swans can dent steel buckets with a blow from their wings and doves have HUGE flight muscles for their size. Vertical takeoffs. Being whacked by a dove wing, if you are the size of a Jay, would smart quite a bit!
