Writer: Kelly Thompson. Artist: Stefano Caselli.
Ooh, a new West Coast Avengers series and Kate Bishop (aka, Best Hawkeye) is in it too? I'm all over that mother. Also, there are some other people there who also had their own series get cancelled, I guess. Aww, man. Quentin Quire on the team? Well, I guess every team needs an entitled prick. Also on the team are America Chavez, Gwenpool, Kate's boyfriend from her own book and Clint Barton. I can't wait to see the whiny piss babies get their big boy pants in a twist because America Chavez is in the book. She and Kate were friends from Kieron Gillen's New Avengers, I think.
This comic book has land sharks in it. I don't care what anybody else says. This comic book has land sharks in it, so it automatically becomes awesome. Also, there is a montage of Kate interviewing applicants for the new team and they are all terrible. I am a sucker for terrible interview montages. This book just keeps getting better and better. Also, there is a giant Tigra on the rampage and some guy called B.R.O.D.O.C.K. Bio-Robotic Organism Designed Overwhelmingly for Kissing. Kate’s expression at the end says it all.
Kelly Thompson is having far too much fun with this and I love it. Maybe I should go back and read her Rogue & Gambit series. I hear that's a lot of fun and I'm a sucker for Rogue/Gambit fluff. I shouldn't be surprised that Kate Bishop is the lead in this book. Kelly Thompson used to write Kate's solo book as well. Let's hope that the rest of this series is just as fun as the first issue. Let's not forget the art as well. Stefano Caselli's art is a lot of fun and suits the wacky hi-jinks that are going on. More land sharks, please!
My rating: 4 stars.
