There were no issues.
HEAD
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the head of the costume. If you are reviewing only a set of ears, your answers would also go in this section.Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear this piece of your costume.
The head fits very snug against my head, and there are holes cut into the sides for your ears so they don't get squished.
There is actually little to no blind spot! The eyes are relatively large and have great vision.
The inside is fully lined and very squishy, with no hards spots.
Ventilation is standard and actually very nice considering her sloped muzzle. It is hollowed out inside and I can easily let fresh air in.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume piece looks from the outside.
Emma's apperance was captured phenomenally by the team. They made Ruff collie prior to building Emma, and captured the borzoi breed almost exactly to how I wanted it depicted. All without an obtrusive blind spot!
There are a couple spots where the shaving may have been a little too short, but they are unnoticeable at first glance. Overall excellent shaving.
Her nose is gorgeous as well, with her nose being made of sculpted foam.
Her ears are also adorably floppy and sewn on.
SVC also did a great color matching on her furs, and they are perfect when compared to the reference material.
BODY
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the body of the costume.
If you are reviewing armsleeves or legs/pants that are seperate from a bodysuit, your answers would also go in this section.
(Appendages, such as hands, feet, tails, etc., are discussed later.) Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear this piece of your costume.
The body has been very comfortable to wear and I haven't had any popped seams, even in high stress areas. I did have one tear in the fabric itself, but it was a small hole near the back that I was able to stitch up.
Wearing underarmor removes any chance of the costume being itchy for me! The fabric itself is very soft and matches Emma's colors perfectly.
There is a bit of wear concerning her knees, but that is simply because I do a lot of public suiting events with children and I have to get down on my knees to interact with them, but otherwise the fur has held up very well.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume piece looks from the outside.
The body is perfectly symmetrical, no issues there. Everything is soft and comfortable!
All of her markings were accounted for.
HANDS AND FEET
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the hands and feet of the costume.Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear these pieces of your costume.
The hands fit perfectly for me. They are 4 finger puffy paws, and have a decent amount of padding in them. However I can still grab things with them.
The claws seem to have been sewn in and are very sturdy, even after countless interactions with little kids.
The feet are also incredibly soft, and are lined with spandex and have foam in-soles. Since I have flat feet, I put some shoe in-soles into the feet so that I can walk comfortably.
The claws on the feet are also sewn in, and are incredibly sturdy.
Since Emma's feet are indoor type feet, SVC sent along some fursuit sandals for outdoor use. They have worked great!
The pawpads on the heels of the feet have started to come off due to wear and tear, however it is only a couple of stitches and otherwise they are in great shape.
Both feet and paws are hemmed with minky to stop the cuffs from fraying.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume pieces look from the outside.
There aren't any shaving errors on either the feet and paws. None of the fur appears patchy or uneven. Very high quality.
SVC gave me the option of which color vinyl I would prefer for the pawpads, which was appreciated.
They also gave me claw color options!
TAILS
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the tail(s) of the costume.Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear these pieces of your costume.
The tail has an incredibly cute shape, and is very waggable! I have gotten lots of compliments on it.
Elastic straps are sewn directly to the tail. It fits nicely against my body. No elastic shows when worn with the body.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume pieces look from the outside.
Highly satisfied.
OVERALL SATISFACTION
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with the overall buying experience, including your interactions with the maker and the resulting final product. How was your concept art realized?
SVC mentioned how they liked using concept art from their preferred artist, and I purchased a reference to see how my character would translate in their style. Seeing the finished reference made me even more excited to possibly get picked.
Their concept artist is not required to make a reference of your character in order to be chosen by SVC.
However, I would recommend their concept artist for translating your character into the SVC style, or for other fursuit maker styles!
How well does everything fit together and match up?
Everything matches very well. The head fits perfectly with the bulk of the body and the feet/paws. It looks very slim while maintaining a cartoony apperance, which I appreciate. Not baggy at all.
How easy was it to initially contact the maker for a quote?
They sent out a series of emails during their Spring 2015 opening, and I was able to hear back from them in relative time after I had been chosen.
How satisfied are you with the response time from the maker?
How long did it take the maker to get back to you?
I remember them responding pretty fast, at most being a day or so. They always had an answer if I had a question.
How satisfied are you with the professionalism and customer service and of the maker?
I did feel like I was being treated respectfully, and I did receive WIPs at various stages of completion.
How satisfied are you with how long your project took to complete?
After the initial deposit of 30% of my payment, I paid the rest of the costume off over the course of 3 months, fully completing the payments in June 2015. That being said, I received my suit August of 2016.
I'm going to say it right now, SVC does not do deadlines. I understand this was to insure for quality, but I did feel a bit concerned when over the course of a year, SVC moved their workshop TWICE. It made me a bit worried for when I would receive my suit. They mentioned their moves through their Twitter, thought I can't remember if they contacted their clients individually or not.
In some cases, I felt very concerned over the future of my suit, and the future of other clients' suits. But I made the decision to purchase from them with knowing full well that their TOS stated that they did not do deadlines, so I recognize this is more of a personal issue.
I am absolutely going to commend them for working and finishing my suit between moves. They definitely created a high quality product despite the rough circumstances. Through the build process Kait sent me messages and WIPs, which was very comforting.
Are you happy with the product you received?
I am very happy with the product I've received, and she has made many kids and adults happy. The costume itself is absolutely wonderful.
Describe your overall experience with this maker.
SVC have made several costumes over the years that I absolutely adore, including my own.
At this point in 2018 however, I'm not sure I can fully recommend this maker based on their no deadline policy.
You WILL get a quality product. There is no question in that. But you have to ask yourself how long you are willing to wait to receive said quality product.
Personally, I don't think I would purchase another costume from them simply because of their no deadline policy. I understand why they have it in place, but not knowing when you'll receive your costume after spending nearly $3000 USD on it is very stressful to say the least.
I realize that no deadline policies are common among many fursuit makers and their large quantity of clients. If SVC continue with this policy, however, they may need to be clearer to their clients about what is going on within their business.
For that reason, I give them a neutral rating. I will restate that I love how Emma turned out, and she will continue to attend countless events. :)

I feel its a bit unfair to ding a maker on them not doing hard deadlines and then commissioning them knowing this. But then giving a neutral based on this. Multiple makers don't do hard deadlines as to not rush their work and offer a quality product. I don't think its acceptable to wait 2 years + for a suit and have no idea when its being done. But a year turn around on a suit from a 'big name' maker seems pretty decent to me. I don't know the whole situation, but I don't feel makers should get neutral feedback based on their TOS if the suit is still made in a decent time frame and good communication is always had. Which in this case it appears it was.
Hmm. Food for thought.

Greetings,
FursuitReview scores by having the reviewer answer the following question: "Would you recommend this maker to another?"
[YES] Positive = The reviewer would recommend this maker to another
[OK] Neutral = The reviewer may or may not recommend this maker, depending on certain circumstances (reviewer clarifies what these are)
[NO] Negative = The reviewer would not recommend this maker to another, unless the maker significantly changes their practices
FursuitReview believes reviews are inherently opinionated, and readers should take the context of the review into consideration instead of focusing solely on the grade.
Reading the “General Information” box on a review (specifically the "reviewer information," ) will help provide the context of that review. How much the reviewer paid, how long they waited, how much prior experience they have with fursuits, how long they have worn the item they’re reviewing, and if they contacted the maker about any problems they had are all things to keep in mind when considering why a reviewer rated an experience a certain way.
All this information is on FA too, but it's much easier to see/find on the website. For example, this is the same review there, where the reviewer information is on the top left on a wide screen or the first section if you are on a smaller screen.
FursuitReview believes that a review is a good review as long as it exists and is truthful. Since reviews are opinionated, we don't police why a reviewer decided to label their review a certain way. This can all be found in our FAQ (specifically here).
Having said this, we always want readers to come to their own conclusions about whether or not they agree with a review, and to not make snap judgements about an item or maker simply based on the rating(s) or what a single reviewer wrote. So in this case, your (SaltyPuppy's) opinion is absolutely valid, but we decided to comment to elaborate on our rating guidelines just in case it was unclear.

Oh I totally understand your rating systems and think you all do a great job! I just think its unfortunate this maker seemed wonderful in every other fashion other then no guaranteed deadline / completion date and received a neutral due to that. Even though the suit was made in good time etc. It is no doubt a /good/ and /truthful/ review! I just don't really agree with the overall score! But to each their own, as it obviously was a stressful situation for the commissioner!
yeah i recognize it is more of a personal issue, as stated in the overall satisfaction portion of the review!
as a first time buyer of a custom suit, i think i underestimated how long of a queue some makers have. if this had been my second or third custom suit, i would likely have given it a solid A+ rating!!
but it wasn't something i was expecting and now that i realize most fursuit queues can take a while to work through, i know what to expect if i choose to purchase another commission.
i'm sure other first time commissioners might not be expecting this as well, so it's important to consider when making a thousand dollar purchase.
i sincerely apologize if i come off as rude, i just want to further explain why i gave it a solid OK instead of an A+. ^^

Not sure if this comment is appropriate and you're absolutely welcome to hide it; but due to the situation going on at Sunny Valley right now and the change of makers happening, new suits may be of different quality and look. So keep that in mind should you commission them in the future.
this is a very good point!!
that is part of why i stated "as of 2018, i am not sure i can recommend them based on their no deadline policy" and "if SVC continue with this policy, however, they may need to be clearer to their clients about what is going on within their business".
so i do recognize that this review is somewhat irrelevant. however i still wanted to post it for the sake of possible comparison in the future, as well as for giving my honest opinion on my experience after i had the time to think about it.
