When life in the world retreats to sleep, it comes time for the Nightings to commune...
This is just a little short story based around a pair of characters inspired by my camping trip from two years ago. The idea has been kicking around since then of tackling a new folklore kind of setting, and after building it in mind for a while I finally have something down on paper. It's a setting that I might continue to toy around with since I have more ideas, especially if the response to this style is positive.
This is intended as the sort of story told long ago, before modern science had answers for most of our natural phenomena, and people were left with their own interpretations of how the world worked, and who really ran it.
Ever looked up into a clear night sky and wondered if someone was looking back down at you?

I'm oddly reminded of Cosmicomics, in which character interact using the basic theories of the universe such as light and gravity, atoms and such. You're breaking down things into concept and it definitely fits the "Folklore" or fairy tale style of things. There's not a whole lot of room for the rules to be defined here though. I'd like to read something more with a little more detail in how all of this works--not to the point of giving away the magic, more the basis of their existence. I think, however, that's less a complaint and more just an interest in what's going on.
