Chapter Sixteen
Chakra woke up on the soft couch with the smell of pancakes in the air. On the short table in front of the couch was another note from Falcon. "Hope you slept well. I made breakfast. See you later. F."
The warm, sweet scent on the air normally would have made Chakra hungry. Today, her stomach was in knotts. She felt numb as she quickly grabbed her cloak from where it had been left - over a chair - the night before. She dashed out to the shed, grabbed her canteen, and quickly filled it. She tried to avoid looking at the breakfast that had been made for her.
Eventually, she gave the pancakes a sniff, just to determine if they were still warm. They were. Falcon must have just left recently. Guilt twisted her stomach as she went outside and harnessed herself to her wagon.
Before she could make her way off of the property, two of Falcon's siblings seemed to appear out of nowhere. One was the younger brother, Zephyr, whose face lit up at the sight of Chakra. The other was the older sister, Iris, who gave her a warm, calm smile like the first night they had met. Chakra wished they wouldn't smile at her like that, as her heart twisted in her chest.
Chakra'a face assumed it's familiar mask. It was a showpony's fake smile that had been practiced, and perfected, over years.
"Hey! You just missed Falcon. She just took off that way!" Zephyr happily reported.
"Going to set up your tent again?" Iris asked. Chakra just nodded. "Alright, we won't keep you. Come on Zephyr."
As the cart lurched into motion again, Chakra could hear Zephyr call out to her. "Hope you can make it to family dinner tonight! It's gonna be a good one!"
Chakra faked a nod, and focussed on pulling her cart. Now, she knew which way Falcon had gone. She knew which way she could leave town without being discovered.
She told herself that if she could just get far enough from town, it would all be okay. Everything would go back to the way it had been before. It would all feel normal again in a couple of days. She kept up this mantra as she briskly trotted down a seldom-used dirt road, and away from Gallup.

Yeah... I would admit that this is probably one of the reasons it took me so long to get back to this series... and why I don't really enjoy writing "dramas"

Thank you for the links. The fact that you would take the time to answer my silly comment, and the pictures themselves, has made my day.
What first drew me to your artwork was your ability to show genuine emotion in your characters in body language and expression. In your art, and your writing, you have a way of making distinctive but relatable characters. You seem to put a bit of yourself in each one, which would explain why most of your characters are caring, happy individuals. It takes a special kind of artist and a kind person to care about someone making a random comment enough to make a list of links to happy pieces. I hope that working on your art brings you as much, if not a lot more, joy than we viewers get from seeing them.
Dramas can be downers at times. But, if there is a happy ending, it allows the rough trip to the end to make the conclusion all the more uplifting.

Well, first off, thank you again ^^ that was a very heart-warming comment and it made my day!
Also, it wasn't so much a reaction to a "random" comment XD I remember you.
I can't remember which submission it was, but I remember that the first time I saw a comment from you, it was also very well-thought-out, and really resonated with how I, personally, felt about the piece. Plus, I think that comment was also rather flattering ^^
