I use this term a lot when I enter chat.
It's about time I explain what I mean.
The song's from Chicago.
Here's the part of the movie that has it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYt2hTGAGAk
and here's just the song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-1cyHNq3zo
The song is basically about a man who is so unimpressive and unimportant he isn't noticed.
He feels invisible. Thus the name Mister Cellophane. Cellophane being a material that can be seen through and in most cases, isn't very impressive.
I only used this term twice when I entered chat and no one said hi. I mean it as a joke of course because those 2 times I came in in the middle of a deep conversation. SO I didn't really mind. But I love this song. So with addition to Kit and Del's puppeteer(Which was aslo inspired by another Chicago song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBM82Ju2kJU) , Next in the talent show is Marsh Tomp with a musical number!
If someone stood up in a crowd
And raised his voice up way out loud
And waved his arm
And shook his leg
You'd notice him
If someone in the movie show
and Yelled "Fire! In the second row,
This whole place is a powder keg!"
You'd notice him
And even without clucking like a hen
Everyone gets noticed, now and then,
Unless, of course, that personage should be
Invisible
inconsequential
me!
Cellophane
Mister cellophane
Should have been my name
Mister cellophane
'cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I'm there!
I tell ya
Cellophane
Mister cellophane
Should have been my name
Mister cellophane
'cause you can look right through me
walk right by me
And never know I'm there. . .
Suppose you was a little cat
Residin' in a person's flat
Who fed you fish and scratched your ears?
You'd notice him
Suppose you was a woman wed
And sleepin' in a double bed beside one man for seven years
You'd notice him
A human being's made of more that air
With all that bulk , you're bound to see him there
Unless that human bein' next to you
Is unimpressive, undistinguished
You
know
who. . .
Should have been my name
Mister cellophane
'cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I'm there
I tell ya
Cellophane
Mister cellophane
Should have been my name
Mister cellophane
'cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I'm there
Never even know I'm there
