Voter I.D. is completely unnecessary. Endless studies have shown that that type of voter fraud is vanishingly rare. On top of that, there are already significant penalties on the books to punish anyone caught.

Right... because, of course, nobody needs an ID to do anything other than vote. Worst case, it's unnecessary but won't be a problem for anyone who does ANYTHING in our society. You need ID to vote, get credit, get a rental or a home, to drive, to get welfare... just use the one you have to vote. Can't possibly discriminate against a group to be forced to have something everyone has anyway.

This is absolutely untrue.
First, as I said before, this type of voter fraud has been repeatedly proven to be virtually nonexistent.
Second, there are ample and effective laws to punish those who DO cast votes fraudulently.
Next, people impacted by these and similar laws are overwhelmingly from groups who have been historically discriminated against, and this is the exact reason that these rules continue to be pushed. It's a completely calculated effort to disenfranchise voters who have a tendency to vote other than Republican.
These rules are unnecessary, there are other ways to check if a vote is valid.

There are other ways to check? Fine. Present one. We, as a nation, have a documented problem, whether you choose to admit it or not; conservatives have proposed a solution. If you have a better one, we're quite willing to consider it. Stating that there is another way to address the problem is not helpful unless you indicate what it actually IS.
