Misunderstood by the author, to be honest.
I feel like that whole book was just a way to reinforce the internal racism of the book series.
Which is disappointing because I really loved Redwall and loved Brian Jacques up until that point.
And then it just kinda... shattered it all :(
Veil here really looks good. The moral of the story should've been how "the racism of a community can push people into roles they don't like" rather than "ferrets are evil and even when they die for you, it's for selfish reasons so you should still call them evil".
