The Liik is a desert-dwelling ostrich-like animal, capable of speeds of up to 80MPH. Their long snout is used to drink groundwater deep in the sand, which they store in special glands in the cheeks, as well as insects hiding in the dunes. Both their resilience and speed make them great mounts for locals, who also believe these animals to be sacred, making a trip across the vast wastes much less dangerous
