I don't usually put works in progress up, but this one I might end up sitting on since i'm not sure where to take it. I've been thinking of trying to do some real life painting with acrylics for the first time and naturally i've gone and assembled the most complicated sketch i've ever drawn. So i'm having second thoughts! The idea is to use a projector to try transfer it to a canvas. I like to cheat whenever possible.
The other, uh, side of this picture is that i'm trying to come up with a ~new fursona~. In another life I made a few fursuits. I'd love to post them here but they're too tied to my real name and you know how that goes. But the whole rabbit thing confused me since the need to see out of eye holes or tear ducts kinda dictates how the head is going to look, and didn't work too well for rabbits. At least not how i'd want them to look. So i've been thinking about how I could get around that. At the same time i've been thinking about animatronics and even done a few tests with poor results.
I've been thinking about it damned near constantly for about a year and a half now, and even went on some bizarre journeys looking through scientific journals for more information on things like display technologies and emerging actuators. Most of which was a waste of time, especially since it takes so much to get past all the crap I assume is written to impress investors. Or god forbid all the tech charlatans reviving obsolete 50 year old technologies and pretending they've invented something new. But despite that i've still come up with a whole bunch of ideas, some of them very silly, that i'd like to try out as money permits.
So this dragon man. I'm trying to design him around what I think is possible to build. I think scales would be easier (and more durable) for animatronics. I tried out that obscenely expensive NFTech fur, after selling off my old computer collection to afford it (who'd have thought that fragile niche junk would become so valuable), and was not impressed. Better fur would be its own whole challenge. I also need a box to carry electronics in. Like a briefcase or maybe some kind of ~science fiction~ test equipment. And so I got this whole dorky idea of some kind of technician or electrician that has to hike about gigantic automated installations to do the occasional repair, maybe for several days. I might need to make his head a bit taller to fit me.
Also go google pictures of valve halls and HVDC stations. They're pretty wild!
