A group shot of the principle cast from my post apocalyptic series, Sunset's Edge. Set approximately six years after a war that resulted in the collapse of the major world governments, the Army and the Air Force square off to decide the future of the central United States.
From left, Master Sergeant Kennedy Alexander, Lieutenant Colonel Avery Wells, Sierra Walker, Rakell Scott, and Major Paxton Ames.

They're quite an interesting group, and each of them look quite formidable all on their own! Even Sierra and Rakell, despite the fact Sierra isn't armed. We've seen enough of what she can do already! It's really interesting to see a post-apocalyptic story set so close to The End, too. I think I've said that before, but it's a nice little twist. Usually these things seem to be set quite a while afterward, in the assumption that it will take people years, if not decades, to start to rebuild. And it might take Sierra and her friends that long, too, but it's kind of nice to get to see the start of that journey.
Great stuff!

The original concept of this idea had set it somewhat further down, my initial story seed had been Sierra traveling with then main character Dayton, who would have been old enough to remember the world before but Sierra would not be, providing a dynamic where he would explain the old world to her and she would have known nothing but. However, Dayton was quickly dropped in favor of Kieran and when the military arc to the series was added, logistics required it be relatively close to 'the end' so that resources would still be available in sufficient quantities and technology such as military aircraft could still be operable within a feasible range. Thus the timeline settled on about 6 to 8 years after.
Then after I'd planned the initial version I decided I needed a main character to represent the air force, but to do it justice it required a soft reboot of the series and Major Ames was added.
