::Art from 2013, a few weeks before Pokemon X and Y was released::
Well, some of you may remember this I did a while back when Heartgold and SoulSilver were actually new and "The Big Thing in Pokémon", http://www.furaffinity.net/view/28291626/
So, with Pokémon X and Y being less then two weeks away, I decided to draw what I'd really like my Trainer to look like. (Now, I'm not sure how much or how limited the customization options are going to be, but if there's an outfit like the one I've just drawn... I'll be psyched!)
I've decided on my Trainer's name, Athena, after the Greek Goddess of Battle Strategy and Wisdom: rather fitting name for a Pokémon Trainer, wouldn't you say? (Plus on a side note, I've got a set of Johto's Legendary Beasts, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, named Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon respectively.) I know Kalos is based off France, but I like Greek Mythology too. Bite me!
I'm still choosing Fennekin as my Starter... it's such a cute, little fiery fox with big, fluffy ears! SO CUTE!!!!
So, here's Athena, looking totally badass with her Fennekin, nicknamed Mandoon, (after Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire, of course) presumably preparing for an upcoming battle. Now, I'm not sure how loose the gameplay of X and Y is going to be, but I'm hoping it will be looser then previous games. The way I envision Athena is a True Neutral character. She's out for herself and herself alone. The only things she cares about are her Pokémon, herself, and the large revolver strapped to her thigh. She'll help out a stranger and fight off evil when it suits her, but, Athena will also lie, cheat, steal, even kill if it furthers herself and her Pokémon Team.
Athena's very theatrical, often quoting "It's not for the protection, it's the distraction!" in regards to her rather appealing and revealing choice of wardrobe. (Kind of like a cross between Sailor Moon and a Dominatrix.) She keeps two Talonflame feathers on her fedora for good luck during battle and wears a partial mask to conceal her identity. If I were to give her a classic RPG class, she's most likely be a Bard or Mercenary, considering she'll do a job if the price is right, and she'll use her theatrics and acrobatics on and off the battlefield for tips. When not battling alongside her Pokémon, she enjoys showing off her trick-shooting and mastery of the bull whip. Theatrics aside, Athena lives up to the name of the Greek Goddess and is a ruthless opponent, both with and without her Pokémon. (She's quite skilled with both the revolver and whip that she carries.)
Athena's favored type preferences are as follows, Dragon, Fire, Psychic, Poison, and Steel, but she'll use anything she can get to stay inside a Pokeball. (kinda like someone else we know... that's right, it's me!)
On the battlefield, Athena is all business. She doesn't care if you're a rookie trainer that was just unlucky enough to ask her for a battle or the Champion of the Elite Four, she gives every match her all without showing mercy. After all, she never asks or expects anyone to go easy on her.
I'm really hoping that Pokémon X and Y wont be the standard "forced path" that we've had with all the other Pokémon games. I'd actually really like to play a trainer who's out for herself and herself alone. Hell, she'd probably join with Team Flare if given the opportunity... if only to overthrow their leader and appoint herself or just disband them altogether from the inside out. Probably wont happen, but hey! I can dream, can't I?
Athena's main team consists of a Fennekin named Mandoon, (later whatever Fennekin will finally evolve into, but right now we don't know what that is yet), a Garchomp named Arcee, a Salamence named Optimus, a Crobat named Blitzwing, a Gardivoir named Klinger, and the fifth slot is swapped between a Doublade named Galaxia and *sigh, yes* a Sylveon named Bruce.
Any of you notice a trend, here? Anyone who does gets a pokeball-shaped cookie.
