This TF moment is brought to you by Nothing... its what's for breakfast!
"Brodrick just HAD to trigger this volcano.", Polbocken thought sighing to herself, then sneezing a large lightning bolt (not all dragons breath out fire, you know) as the ash filling the air tickled her nose. Brodrick the evil terra-mancer was dead now, electrocuted by Polbocken's own mouth, but that wasn't going to stop the volcano.
"Richard can probably stop this, and it is not like anything lives here except those earth elementals Brodrick had enslaved, and they will be fine as soon as someone digs the ones too young to phase though minerals out of all this ash."
But to do that the hyper-organized (anal-retentive might be a better word) Richard would first want to find her, and this WAS their agreed on rendezvous point. There wasn't any lava flowing near this point, and Richard had the spells to protect him from the heat, ash, and flying chunks of sharp-edged obsidian. Polbocken had only her polymorphic abilities.
"I could use a nap after that fight, but I am sure to wind up 6 feet deep in ash if I lay down until Richard comes. He could locate me easily, but I would have to be in a form that doesn't need to breath... he wouldn't be happy about having to waste telekinesis to un-bury me (telepathy on the other hand hardly takes him any energy at all), so it needs to be a form that can dig its own way out, and not get punctured before I get buried... hmmm... or maybe I don't have to be completely impervious after all... this will stretch my abilities a bit, but practice is always good."
Polbocken reverted to human form just in time for a flying piece of obsidian to pierce her liver...
"YOUWCH!", she yelped using her shape shifting to push the offending piece of glass out and repair the damage.
She quickly caused her body to swell as large, scab-like growths of a gray to match the matter swirling around her spread to cover her skin... she artistically added some ragged edged gaps in the growing armor and a few simulated pustules... she liked her efforts to be appreciated after all. She flopped over onto all fours, knocking the air out of her lungs, not bothering to refill them... a comparatively small tail, also armored, was added... finally she stopped her heart.
"Well this should work... I wonder if 250 pounds is enough to dig myself out when the time comes... yeah should be... all good...", she thought,"...or maybe not." She blinked a bit of ash out of her right eye, then went ahead and carefully poked both eyes out with her new claws... "Yeah, that hardly hurt at all and I can still see just fine... not bad for my first feild use of a post-mortal form."
Smiling a ghastly grin to herself, the zombie dire-armadillo lay down to wait for her team-mate.
