Finally! Here it is. After nearly a year he's finally here! Storm Drake, in all his glory. This one was a labor of love and I often had to take breaks due to growing frustraiton. For starters, that damn tail took nearly 4 HOURS, just getting the curve right, and don't get me started on the shading for it. Dear lord! Then the hind right paw. First I sketched it out on my tablet, since I wasn't able to fit it on the original sketch. First too small, then too big, 2 hours later... lovely! The coloring and shading went along nicely... then the clouds... help me lord, the clouds. Failed attempt after failed attempt. They just didn't look right, the colors were wrong, they blended in too much with Stormy, to much dark, to much light, WTF, those don't even look like clouds, headdesking, and so on and so fourth. But, eventually, I settled upon dark and light orange, like storm clouds would look like in the light of a setting sun to set the blue of the dragon off. For the shading, I used careful application of the Darken/Lighten brush on PSP9. Through all the yelling, evil, dark thoughts, and fails, I finally have a final product that I'm pleased with.
