Remembering a sad birthday
Today, August 8th, 2018 would have been
mavraster's birthday, She would have been 53.
What saddens me is that she's no longer with us and how ironically I find what would have been a great gift for her birthday. A NASA marked shower curtain. Along with a safe bet, another knife.
I seriously miss Mavra, FurryMUCK isn't the same anymore. I keep expecting her to pop in, tip her hat and see how folks are doing.
I hope you've been fangirling Carl Sagen out there Mavra.
I miss you...…

cheers mate, the hardest is always the first missed birthday.
I remember when my buddy big danny T from VA passed away. He was one of those loud out there guys who could make friends with everyone. HE was the limelight and the comedian at most of the big VA anime cons. After his passing, the cons seems more, bleak, but as times goes by they picked back up, there are still memories of them, you still expect to see them pop up at their usual spots, flask in hand ready to share whatever they brought with them (with him it was ALWAYS 10+ year old scotch.) to pass around and tell a story.
I hope you are feeling ok man, and just know there is a huge support network for you out there.

Psion is right, the first toast these days is always " To Absent Friends ". List is getting too damned long.
But as long as we remember them as they were, they will never be truly gone from us.
Mercilessly pillaged and butchered from the old Maldon manuscript,
" Will grow firmer, Heart grow stronger, as our numbers become less. "
We go on because they would expect us to go on, and to celebrate the memories of our time with them. So I will.
But it's damned hard some days.
Heartfelt sympathy Rabbi.

Mavra was one of those rare individuals I 'Knew' but never met face to face. We always communicated via chat, later through emails. I always 'threatened' to show up in Portland for one of her Star Parties. Honestly, I've never seen anything past Mars with a telescope and would have been cool to have an actual astrophysicist show me the sites.
Someday my big bald friend, we shall encounter!
