Talos isn't related to Erebus, but he's more of a mentor figure to him. Talos often looks out for Erebus and his sister since they only have eachother (their parents died when they were younger)

It was far more amusing to see Erebus as a grump just for the sake of it. Having a legitimate, deep storyline reasoning behind it almost makes me sympathetic. Almost.
