Why dainty? The head weighs 220g. It's for an onehand fightingaxe.

3 pound head for a one hand war Axe? No maybe for a danish Axe. The original Mammenaxe was 15,5 x 10 cm an had 260g.

Yes ok everybody how he likes. We need very fast and robust weapons, the blades and also the axes. And if you have to fight a or more days against swordman you will be happy if your axe weights just (with wood stick) 500-700g. Interesting, But usually we match swords with swords and axes against the like.
For two handing axes I make some really nice 10 pounders. and some dainty 4 pounders.
And usually I jsut make swords and polearms.

Yes ok, i think its a question of the style and species of fighting.
Hmm swords yes for the first experiment i will make an damascus seax. Then i will know what's the next step^^

The original is made like that, with inlays, but tis replica isen't made by that way, the curves are etched with FeIIICl
