Personality: Despite his curse and the crippling injury that claimed his voice, Tucker reminds relatively upbeat, at least on the surface, in fact he tends to be quite boisterous and out-going especially when surrounded by the right people thou is a little awkward and reserved when with strangers, but once he warms up to you, his loyalty rivals that of a dog
Backstory: That during that faithful mission he was partnered with his brother and sent to apprehend runaway shapeshifters on a remote planet, thou according to his superiors they claimed they were “dangerous” and planning an attack on a nearby colony, but in reality they were on the run from military forces trying to hunt them down, so when they got to the planet they easily tracked them, and Tucker’s brother went to scout ahead and managed to find their leader, a werewolf mercenary who panicked immediately and killed him out of self-defense, when his body was discovered by the rest of his squad this send Tucker into a rage of grief and went AWOL to hunt down his brother’s murder and managed to get him cornered but he ended up shifting as a last resort and mauled Tucker pretty badly, and he could have easily been killed too if his squadmates didn’t find him and fed off the otherworldly beast
With Tucker critically injured, they had no choice but to abort the mission and let the shapeshifters get away since they didn’t want to lose both Glenrir boys that night
He was rushed to the ship’s medical bay but by then he was already starting to show signs of infection, and it was notoriously difficult to sedate him for surgery as he let out snarls and cries of pain in the operating room
One of his superiors showed up on the scene, he was eerily calm about the situation and advises that while he recovers he should be immediately incarcerated and if he starts to shift while being taken there then he should be killed on sight if the situation calls for it, the rest of his squadmates solemnly agreed to follow the protocol
meanwhile Tucker is out cold for DAYS, wishing that everything he experienced was a bad dream, and was already feeling extremely sore and ackey again from his injuries as he slowly woke up, one of his squadmates was there to comfort him but had a somber look on their face… they all knew what had happened, and they all knew something Tucker didn’t, when he tried to talk it physically pained him to try to speak and they had to explain that his vocal chords were damaged beyond recognition, he noticed the room he was in was very isolated and contained and started to panic and when he reached out to one of his squadmates, they dissolved into holographic static, he knew something was terribly wrong when his own fellow marines couldn’t bare to physically be with and ran to the transparent wall encasing him, and in his reflection he say everything, the scars, the bandages, and the monstrous feral features he grew… he became one of them….
he had no voice, but he desperately wanted to scream…
for weeks he was kept in his cell as a safety precaution, and wasn’t allowed to even attend his brother’s own memorial service, so all he could do was fall into a deep deep depression, too broken to care what could ultimately happen to him, he’d likely get court martialed or even worse considering the danger he potentially posed as a werewolf, one of his squadmates finally decided to show up in person this time, but Tucker didn’t buy it at first and out of frustration, flung a foodtray at him to see if he was really there
SPOILERS: he was :P
his fellow marine tried his best to explain the massive amount of red tape all of them were under and was told to give him his suppressants so that he could be released without risk of shifting and told him he is required by law to take them otherwise he would face harsh repercussion for “willfully putting the public in danger” Tucker reluctantly agreed and was finally released, and despite being offered a “a nice steak and a cold one” he could already feel his relations with his squadmates and the military in general begin to strain, as only one of them bothered to show up and offer comfort during his time of need, and only when it was a little too late
and he didn’t particularly like the steak dinner either, it was clearly frozen and not nearly as raw as he would have liked
Unable to accommodate his disability, and the potential liability of having a shapeshifter among their ranks, he was quietly discharged, leaving him more isolated then ever, he decided to pack his things and set off to one of the pact worlds taking a job as a freelance mercenary while maybe also learning more about the exact nature of his curse
