I've been working on a setting that's inspired by Zelda, because I have a fetish for making new settings or something.
The first thing I started doing was designing races, because that's where I always start. The first one is the Fire race, the ones that live up in the mountains and fill the role of the gorons. They have to be strong, hardy and able to curl up into a ball and roll.
This is the first pace of sketches trying to get the feel right, I leaned toward big, hunched body types, very rocky looking.
Ignore the goron in the corner, he doesn't exist.
