Meet the Delumian Flora Python! Don't let that annoyed looking face fool you, these snakes are as cuddly as you can get. With prey they can't swallow whole anyways.
They primarily eat small mammals no bigger than a medium sized dog. Using their plant-like growths, they disguise themselves in the foliage and wait for prey. Their growths vary from individual to individual, trying to match it to the plants of their hunting grounds. Some have even managed to develop growths of plants that can be used to capture prey such as venus flytraps.
Their luminescent eyes can emit varying patterns of light, allowing them to calm and then capture their prey. But when the prey is too large for them to eat, what they do is rather astounding. They keep the prey as a pet.
Feed them, play with them, cuddle with them. It's been described by scientists as "Undeniably adorable."
Some have actually gone out of their way to see if the Delumian Flora Python treats more intelligent species like this. Spoiler alert: they do. There's a web series floating around the galaxy of a woman and her three years spent as a pet to one of these 60 foot long snakes.
If you're not ready to make such a commitment though, stay well away from them. They, like any concerned pet owner, will give chase if they feel their pet is trying to run away. And without arms, they can't put up missing posters. How sad!
