I love the idea of making my own visual novel type thing. It'd be a simple adventure, maybe even just a prototype for a bigger idea down the road. But where to start?
Oh! How about I try making a UI for it first and then go from there! I checked out a whole bunch of examples thanks to a Tumblr that catalogued a lot of the UI, and turns out none of them really did what I wanted to see (maybe for a good reason?)
