Freestyle Libra... Diabetes more visible...
So just lately so many people in NI have been getting Freestyle Libra's and therefore lots of people have been noticing them more and realising what they are and diabetes in general has been more visible and talked about because of this.
To start with, I honestly didnt want to get a libra... i didnt like the idea of having something in me the whole time and i didnt like the idea of having a visible tag on my arm that showed i wasnt a 'normal' person...
but it's actually so good.... it's helped me a lot... even with just having it 6 months, my HBA1C has dropped so much, i'm getting closer to target and just... yeah... im proud of that.
Also a case of... I wanted to sketch something for myself... and wanted to see just more real life art tbf... its all well and good getting art of idealised situations but sometimes you just need something to reflect your own day to day life..
As a kid, i genuinely hated people knowing i was diabetic because it made me different from everyone else.. but now i have no problem speaking about it people and like, explaining it and answering questions about my own experience of it. I've been type 1 diabetic since i was 14 months old, so its genuinely been with me for as long as i can remember.
Still waiting for a 'cure' for it, but sure at least this is making things a little bit easier.
