A closer look at each critter featured in my new Redwall size chart! Here's a perilous hare, wot.
It's weird that we don't see a lot of actual rabbits throughout the series, but there are plenty of hares! Unfortunately most of them tend to be kind of samey as they're all more or less emulating the original Basil, but I do love the group from The Long Patrol and they bump that book up from 'mediocre' to 'good' for me. It would've been nice to see some of that variety elsewhere. I will say, as someone who has owned bunnies before, that their eating habits are not exaggerated. This guy can probably scoff you under the table and if he's anything like my old rabbit Dimitri he will go particularly crazy for Cheez-Its.

Oh wow you're totally right. I think the only rabbit I can even remember offhand was that weird family in Martin the Warrior that used that spooky scarecrow machine. And even then I think the only notable thing was that he just fed them scones...
That said this is a great rabbit, lovely interpretation of the outfit as well!
