We really don't see a whole lot of bats throughout the series, do we? I don't remember for sure but I don't think we ever see any outside of their home turf, and even then they're only in a couple of books. Underutilized species, if you ask me. A bat would be great for sneaky nighttime recon on either side! They can't really wear clothes like the land mammals can, but that's okay, they can still have sweet hoods and scarves.
