Uncertain Future (Part 2)—by Quinn
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
At the behest of the massive butler mannequin, I dispelled the magic holding me in my kobold body. I was overcome with vertigo for a brief moment, after which I looked at my own body. I was not the beast I used to be: I was a bonafide dragon. The elongated neck I felt myself controlling; the broad, magnificent wings I bared on my back; the digitigrade stance, extra toes, and naturally bent knees; the potent metallic sheen to my scales and horns, which my tribe had once told me was the sign of a dragon who stood for all that was good in the world… I was in awe of my own elegance. I did not even realize that I had grown to over thirty feet tall until I tried to make eye contact with the butler again.
As with everything I had experienced so far, unconscious thoughts told me that this was all natural. "Of course I'm a dragon," they told me. "I finished my transformation years ago." My conscious mind couldn't believe it no matter how much my instincts told me that there was nothing to fear.
This is a picture of the sixteenth in-game day of my current Pathfinder campaign with usual DM
Bomba, then-DM
MonsterMutt, and players
Serophous,
Marshtomphappy,
CaitSith and
Quinn. Most of the party had found itself on yet another mental exhibition when it was forcibly pulled into the mind of party member Jean. Forced to wander through his past memories and deal with his tumutulous emotions, the party eventually found itself drawn into how Jean imagined the future: the rest of the party led successful lives after saving Wonderland while Jean was forgotten. My mutated kobold Gargantua was pictured as a giant dragon and vastly improved shapeshifter in this future who used his size and might to become head of the Wonderland militia, and who used his shapeshifting to restore his former body, allowing him to talk face-to-face with his men.
You can follow up on the latest events in the campaign as written by Lank/Gargantua here. This campaign captivates me more with every session that passes because of the intense character development that us players willingly undergo and that Bomba facilitates.
