Similar to the getup I wear at work.
The little guy on the left indeed knows he doesn't fit the usual mold, when's the last time anyone took orders from a mouse? And it's true he's not stopping any stampedes anytime soon but in a position that happens to value brains over brawn, its his meticulous if not neurotic attention to detail that caught the attention of his new bosses, the promise of a substantial rise in salary urging the reluctant critter away from his box office position where only a friendly face was needed of him. Every door locked, every incident report and daily schedule just so, he slips quietly and swiftly through the hidden nooks and crannies of the building, his white coat and elusive nature earning him the nickname of "the ghost." Coworkers joke about how when told to complete a task, he always gets it done, but nobody ever sees him do it.
Most joke, that is. The guy on the right doesn't laugh much. If he does he probably turns away. Indeed he's a tough guy, making use of the preconceived notion of his species to intimidate anyone who may be considering having a little too much fun on his watch. A reliable choice when the managers need crowd control, it can be a point of frustration for those who know him best. As proven by his smaller, more docile peers, the job values intelligence. He wouldn't be here if he weren't a smart guy, regardless of how society sees him. In whatever brief moments of conversation what can achieve with the stoic rat, they would find him to be deceptively thoughtful. There's a good heart in there. All the same, he relies on the old stereotypes. They want him to be scary, they want him to be the badass, or maybe just the bad guy so he'll flex those toned forearms and stare daggers into the passersby, trying to scare them away before anyone can get to know him. After all, nothing's scarier than vulnerability.
Anyway, I need to get ready for work.
