Answering my tenth question! Thank you  amenon for asking!
Another ear question! Clipped ears are a sign of higher status within the Sraik society. No one aside from gray or gray and white furred wolves can have their ears clipped though, unless they have proven themselves worthy of having them clipped by having reached a high position of power within society through their own merits. So unlike for Gray or Gray with White Wolves, they don't have the right for their kin to get their ears clipped upon birth, their pup must earn it like the parent(s) did. (Although at that point it does become a bit easier for the pup to prove themselves worthy as they will have an advantage already being high in society.)
Traditionally at birth both ears are clipped if there is only one pup born, but if there are 2 (as in Akire/Nathan's case) it's usually that each one gets an ear clipped. If you notice in places like Akire's backstory, a few of the advisers and the King have their ears clipped.

One special case for this tradition though is Alexander. Being born to a higher classed family, he should have had his ears clipped but upon birth and seeing his ears already having a white pattern where they were to be clipped, his parents decided against it despite it being a "honor" to have one's ears clipped.

Unfortunately, Akire isn't as knowledgeable about history or traditions as someone like Nathan or Arthur, who could tell how it's not just a "random" tradition. The story behind it is that: After the sort of civil war between the Gray and Gray with White Furred wolves, when the 2 leaders officially combined the 2 tribes, in order to show their bonds they each clipped one ear and it was then seen as an important marker for status since the "king" had his ear cut. It would later spread and become a tradition to have it performed in the way and with the "rules" mentioned above.
