i met a grullia once at a horse rescue ranch I SO would love to have had her but she was sold already
i thought it was cool she had mid leg to hips/shoulder zebra striping and the dark spine stripe with more banding at the tail she even had it into the hair of the tail and a pleasing light brown/gray body color but was a good 16 hands tall so no small horse she had one fault a foot a few degrees out of alignment would have needed corrective shoe to fix

She sounds gorgeous. Thats pretty tall, wonder what breed she was. A slight fault in the leg doesnt always effect work, I used to ride a pidgeon toed paint that was one helluva barrel racer, first time I got on him I fell straight off, that boy was fast!

she was a premarin mare rescue so she was part draft in her blood line other than the hoof she had very nice form all parts fit well size wise unlike a couple mares there which had HUGE feet versus their smaller bodies

The problems in horses nowadays are backyrd breeders, thaey have no clue about proper confirmation, they dont realise that realy bad confirmation can make life a living hell for the horse, long backs are weaker in so being ridden is very uncormfortable and vice versa on short backs, short necks and long necks add problem for things like jumping or dressage, weak loins make the horse have a whole new set of problems. Then the breeder cant afford thier 'fun foal' and sell it...as it gets older it has trouble, and they often end up as rescue horses, its very saddening. Sounds like she would have been a wonderful horse though.

well she went to someone who will take very good care of her

and the source for these mares and sometimes foals are the medical labs collecting hormones from their urine http://www.premarin.org/ they breed in the draft for larger bladders and after a year or so they can tell which mares produce more the lesser ones are sold usually for meat

the premarin they collect is used for many kinds of hormone and medical treatments
