Our Lady of the Shellfish (8h)
She's such a saint, you could almost call her... shellfless! /rimshot
/raucous crowds booing to get off stage
ANYWAY. Yet another piece for
Fenric of yet another yinglet! This was actually the first yinglet I'd ever painted and, not having actually read the source material at the time (which I have now remedied), I unintentionally made her features rather boyish. Ha! Seems fitting now. Either way, this was a quicker sort of Mucha for my dear friend the fox, and I'm still really delighted with how the mandorla came out alongside the other elements. Her little floating stone is a direct reference to the species comic of origin, Outer of Placers by
ValSalia (who of course designed the species) and is technically a plot point I guess? Also, fun to paint. Very fun. Yes.
Enjoy!

I thought there was something Mucha-esque about this piece! I do however really like Mucha so I have a tendency to see his style in a ton of things though.
And I actually think some arts where the artist is only slightly familiar with the ying concept sometimes produces the most interesting look, as it takes the general idea but fills in the blanks with the artist's imagination, and that's always fun to see. : D
