Bhradain Reid, Albion Regional Champion of the Lake Country
In the heart of Albion there is a beautiful, lush stretch of ancient glacial valleys and deep lakes known simply as the Lake Country. The history of the Lake Country is one of proud people and old traditions, particularly in their bond with the local Pokemon population. For centuries the people of Albion's lake country have been something of experts in the raising and training of Water-type Pokemon of all breeds, and Bhradain Reid comes from one of the oldest and most respected of these families.
From a young age Bhradain, or Dain to his friends, knew that he was destined to be a Trainer. More than that, he knew that he would be one of the greatest in Albion. He dedicated himself not only to that task, but to improving and maintaining the old loch-side community of Loch Fuar. The community, his childhood home and the seat of his family's affairs, had been falling behind the times for years. The young, energetic and determined Dain took it upon himself to help advance the community, though not at the cost of its iconic beauty and charm.
Modern technology and amenities were added, but concealed behind old, mossy stone and timber. Advanced services such as those offered by a Pokemon Center were made available through a charming inn, wireless internet was made available to every inch of the Loch Fuar valley, the infrastructure of the town was upgraded and updated. All of this, hidden as best it could be, to make the beautiful town's antiquated appeal last.
By the age of thirty-eight, Dain had become the head of his family and the clan that called Loch Fuar home, and had also taken the title of Albion Regional Champion for the Lake Country. With his powerful Water-type party of Pokemon from around the world he proved more than a match for anyone who came calling, and only make things more interesting by his improvement and modernization of the old family Gym in the heart of the seemingly decrepit Loch Fuar Castle.
Built on a cliff protruding out over the black, cold waters of Loch Fuar, the castle looks more like a place to find Ghost-types than a place to battle a Water-type Champion. However, once you get past the exterior it becomes clear the inner workings of the castle are modern and complex, with the first several floors involving puzzles and tests against Dain's clan members. Instead of going up, though, one must go down into a specially built vertical "dungeon".
Airlocks lead into partially flooded tunnels, with each floor patrolled by both wild Water-types and Trainers alike. One must fight their way through each floor and activate a pump switch, shifting the water away so that they can move further down, through four floors of battles until they reach the final rest area. A place to recuperate before entering Dain's Moon Pool, a gigantic open arena on the surface of Loch Fuar, walled in by waterfalls on all sides. Here, Dain and his oldest and most faithful Pokemon, Àlainn, meet their challengers in honorable combat, surrounded by the element Dain loves most.
Dain is a cheerful sort, though also prone to absent-minded dreaming and wandering thoughts. He's always looking ahead to the future, trying to think of new ways to help improve his community while also striving to maintain the natural beauty and cultural appeal that draw people to the Lake Country of Albion. For him, the future should never be about replacing what one knows; it should be about finding a balance to serve everyone well.
His currently rotation of Pokemon consists of:
Àlainn, his Lochie Water-type (shown).
Old Greg, his Chippolock, a breed of incredibly fast silver-colored fish with surprising attack power.
Morag, a Wishiwashi he traded a traveling Alolan Trainer for sometime ago.
Còiseam, his Kingler.
Mànus, his Dewgong.
And Grannd, his Clawitzer.
He has many other Water-type Pokemon, but this current party is the one he's most likely to field.
Quotes:
"Come on now; not afraid to get your feet wet, are ya?"
"Cold water and warm hearts; that's the Loch Fuar way."
"Once we're done, I'll take you round to the pub, aye?"
"Don't be shy, now; Àlainn doesn't bite...Usually."
Q&A below. Feel free to ask Dain anything you like.
